Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • Make sure your submission includes the titles of the source text and translated text
  • the names of the author and translator
  • a short (<50-word) introduction to the piece translated
  • a short (<50-word) translator bio, written in the third person
  • a copy of the original text.

Author Guidelines

  • All submissions should have some relationship to the prescribed theme. This issue’s theme will be METAMORPHOSIS.

  • We accept electronic submissions in .doc, .docx or .pdf format.

  • Contributors should submit the source text in its original language along with their own translation.

  • Prose submissions should ideally be under 1500 words in length, though we are open to exceptions. This word count refers to the translation itself, not the original text and the translation together.

  • Poetry submissions should ideally be under 150 lines long, though we are open to exceptions. This word count refers to the translation itself, not the original text and the translation together.

  • We accept extracts from longer works.

  • We accept translations from/into any language (Dothraki included)—however, either the source text or the translation must be in English or Irish.

  • You are welcome to send more than one submission if you so wish.

 

In your submission, please include: 

 

  • the titles of the source text and translated text

  • the names of the author and translator

  • a short (<50-word) introduction to the piece translated

  • a short (<50-word) translator bio, written in the third person, and

  • a copy of the original text.
