Taking Applications for the Next ESR Managing Editor

The Economic and Social Review (ESR) is looking to fill the role of Managing Editor. The ESR is Ireland's leading journal for economics and applied social science, publishing high quality submissions in economics, sociology, and cognate disciplines on topics of relevance to Ireland. The ESR also incorporates a policy section that contains applied articles addressing important questions relating to economic and social policy. The Journal is published four times a year.

The role of the Managing Editor includes:

  • Recruiting and appointing an Editorial Board
  • Managing the peer review process of submitted manuscripts, including initial assessment of the suitability of articles and assignment to associate editors as appropriate
  • Selecting reviewers and managing review process of papers as handling editor as appropriate
  • Responding to author and reviewer queries
  • Liaising with copy-editor and delivering on-time copy to the publisher
  • Inviting submissions for special editions and liaising with guest editors
  • Reporting on journal activities to Economic and Social Studies Council
  • Serving as member of Economic and Social Studies Council
  • Developing and growing the journal
  • Promotion of the journal

Candidates should have a proven track record in research (preferably in economics).
