Call for Papers: Special Issue on “Energy, Environment and Climate Change Economics”

16-09-2024

The Economic and Social Review is inviting papers for a special issue on “Energy, Environment and Climate Change Economics” edited by Dr. Niall Farrell (Economic and Social Research Institute, Ireland) Dr. Kelly de Bruin (Economic and Social Research Institute, Ireland) and Dr. Jason Harold (University of Galway, Ireland). This special issue seeks to highlight research which develops our understanding of economic questions relating to climate change, the environment and energy. We are particularly interested in papers with immediate policy relevance and welcome papers from all economic disciplines addressing topics relating to climate change, the environment or energy.

Academic research is needed in these areas to help inform the policy debate and ultimately to improve our understanding of policy options. As a general interest journal, The Economic and Social Review is well positioned to cut across different fields within Economics and Sociology to give insight into research in this space. The issue will consider both full length articles as well as shorter (c7,000 words) more descriptive studies that have a specific policy focus.

The deadline for article submission is February 14th, 2025. The papers will be subject to a normal double blind review process and those that are accepted will be published in Winter 2025.
